Exporting and importing subfolders

It is possible to import a complex Meridian Project Portal folder structure in one operation from a comma-separated values (CSV) file that contains the folder names and their relationships to one another. The file is known as a PBS file and its format is described in Understanding PBS files. All workspace users can import and export folder structures, depending on their access rights in the workspace.

The folder structure of a Meridian Project Portal workspace can also be exported for use in another applications or for later import back to Meridian Project Portal. The structure is exported as a PBS file with MIME type application/x-csv that contains a comma-separated list of the workspace folders.

To export subfolders:

View the property page of the parent folder from which you want to export the subfolders. The current folder will be the root folder of the exported structure.

On the ribbon, in the Folder group, click Export subfolders. Your browser's File Download dialog box appears.

Note Your web browser will attempt to download a PBS (CSV) file to your computer. If your browser's security settings block the download, you might need to adjust the settings and retry this procedure.

Click Open to open the file immediately without saving it first or click Save to save the file for later viewing. The archive file downloads to your computer.

To import subfolders:

Before you begin

The import source (PBS) file must contain folder metadata (folder properties). Export the PBS file as described in the preceding procedure or create a file as described in Understanding PBS files.

View the property page of the parent folder into which you want to import the subfolder structure.

On the ribbon, in the Folder group, click Import subfolders. A page showing the subfolder import options appears.

Click options or type values using the descriptions in the following table.

Choose file	Type the path to the PBS (CSV) file on your computer that you want to import, or click Browse and select the file. For more information about the required file formatting, see Understanding PBS files.
Type	Select a folder type for all of the new folders.
Description	Type a description to apply to all of the new folders.
Lifecycle	Select a life cycle for all of the new folders.
Notification	Type the names of users to notify when the import has completed or click Find to search for a user name. To register all of the notification recipients for automatic notification of future changes to the new folders, select Kronodoc users, groups and email addresses.
Access control	Select an access profile to apply to all of the new folders.
